The now well established Gafta Fumigation Manual (now the Gafta Fumigation Standard) was developed during the years 2005 /2006, and the IMFO group was fully involved in the manual’s parentage. Our code of practice and documentations, established and put in place many years before , were used to lay the foundations of the Gafta standards.
One of the IMFO founding members, Igrox Ltd , was then audited and became the first GAFTA certificated fumigation company. The first overseas company to be certificated were Fugran from Argentina , another IMFO member.
In 2010 with IMFO expertise and involvement, Gafta made significant changes to the 132 Fumigation Rules for use in their contracts. These revised rules were published during 2011. These rules finally became mandatory in Gafta contracts in 2019 when only fumigators who were certificated under the Gafta Approved Fumigators Certification scheme were allowed to carry out fumigation where Gafta contracts are used.
